Tips to Master Spoken English | BSL - British School of Language
1.
Learn to Listen
“In order to speak you
must listen before”
Before Hopping on to speaking, learn to Listen. If you don’t know how it’s pronounced, how will you do the same? Mostly every word has a different pronunciation, use Google Translator to be sure! You remember things you hear, so be attentive while listening.
2.
Use Subtitles
While watching movies in English use subtitles for better understanding. By that, you will see the spelling of the words and understand the pronunciation, simultaneously. Since U.S. and British accents are different, you won’t be able to understand what they are speaking, subtitles will make it easy for you to understand and Thus, after sometime you won’t even feel the need for subtitles.
3.
Focus on Phonic Sounds
Phonic Sounds is a method of linking sounds with
alphabets to make it easy for the latter to form words and therefore, speak.
They are very helpful for beginners and children.
e,g. N is not pronounced as “en” in words it’s a nasal sound. When you’ll be well-versed phonic sounds you’ll be able to understand the construction of words, which will definitely make it easier for you to deliver.
4.
Tongue Twisters
Tongue twisters are a game changer.Trust us on
this, they are basically exercises for your tongue. They provide a path for your
tongue and guide it to speak the words correctly. The accent in which you speak
is of utmost importance. So, make sure it’s right.

Read Signages of
Shops

6.
Try to write the
words in your native language
When you try to write the words in your native
language and then speak it becomes easier for you to catch the tone, and thus
you’ll be able to learn faster.
7.
Focus on English Fluency
and Pronunciation, Not Grammar
Use a mirror and watch the movement of your mouth, and improve your pronunciation. The more fluent you’ll be while speaking the more confident you’ll be.
